Scored a fifty for the 5th XI when aged 13 and won the Under 13 Batting Cup in 2001 and the Under 15 Batting Cup in 2002 and 2003. Represented the winning Belfast team in Lord's Taverners Inner Cities Cricket Cup at Arundel 2002. He scored 117 runs in the four matches including a highest score of 49, as well as keeping wicket, which earned him the award as the Belfast XI's Player of the Tournament. 1st XI debut 2002. Scored 101* in an Under 15 league match v Templepatrick in 2003. Ulster rugby committments now curtail his appearances.
