An excellent young batsman who came through the club's youth system, David left the club in 1998 at age 16 when the opportunity arose to play Section 1 cricket with Cliftonville CC. Represented Ireland at Under 15 level in 1998, and was captain of both Ulster and Ireland Under 19's respectively in 2000 and 2001. Played for the Ireland Development XI in the European Championships in Holland in 2002, the year he also made his Inter-Pro debut for the NCU. Was a 1st XI regular at Cliftonville in Section 1 for six seasons, his best season being 2003 when he scored 506 runs @34.43. Also a useful off-spinner. David re-joined Carrick in 2005, scoring 432 runs with a highest score of 114, and picking up 19 wickets.Winner of 1st XI Batting Cup 2005. His father Bobby was Carrick's 1st XI captain in 1989 and 1990 seasons. David left the club again in June 2006 and is now playing for Cliftonville.
