Vauxhall Tankard Award
The Vauxhall Tankard Award is presented to the individual who contributes the
season's most outstanding match-winning performance. This year, the honour went
to Ivan Walker. Templepatrick must have fancied their chances when they amassed
a total of 272 against the Second XI. But the Seconds passed this formidable
total with nearly 8 of their 50 overs to spare. Our winner was unbeaten on 60
at the end with 5 x 6's and 6 x 4's. But he has to share the trophy (with
himself) for the innings he played in the final game of the season when he was
drafted into the First XI at the last minute. His unbeaten 33 on debut saw the
season end on winning note at Downpatrick.

Young Cricketer of the Year
This year's winner, Michael Gilmour, completed his first full season as a First
XI player in 2006 and a very successful one it was. He scored a total of 286
runs at 20.43 (just missing the NCU averages by 14 runs) including a maiden
First XI fifty when he scored 64 against Downpatrick at Middle Road. He also
picked up 5 wickets with his lively medium pace and held 6 catches. For the
Second XI, he scored a further 115 runs at 28.75 and, with more opportunity to
bowl, took 14 wickets including the best figures of the season by a Carrickfergus
bowler of 7 for 23 against Laurelvale.

Second XI Batsman of the Year
Our winner, Nigel McFarland, showed just how good a batsman he still is with
another fine season for the Second XI. He scored a total of 490 runs at 32.67
with 4 fifties, including a highest score of 87. He has now scored over 7,500
runs for the Club and wins this trophy for the fourth occasion, having
previously won the First XI batting award five times.

In a season where the batsmen dominated the Second XI's performances, captain
Gordon Creighton led from the front with the ball. He was top wicket taker with
23 wickets at 17.00 turning in consistent performances throughout the season.
He had five 3 wicket hauls, including 3 for 10 in 10 overs against Laurelvale.
